【摘要】:ThepurposeofthisInternationalStandardistodefineandpromotetheuseofasetofstandardidentifiersfortheuniqueidentificationoflibrariesandrelatedorganizationswithaminimumimpactonalreadyexistingsystems.AnISILidentifiesanorganization,i.e.,alibraryorarelatedorganization,oroneofitssubordinateunits,whichisresponsibleforanactionorserviceinabibliographicenvironment(e.g.creationofmachine-readableinformation).Itcanbeusedtoidentifytheoriginatororholderofaresource(e.g.librarymaterial).TheISILisintendedforusebylibrariesandagenciesdoingbusinesswithlibraries,suchassuppliersandpublishers.AnISILidentifiesanorganizationoroneofitssubordinateunits,throughoutitslife.Insomecases,suchaswhenanorganizationhasmovedorundergoneasignificantadministrativechange(e.g.amergerwithanotherorganization),particularlyonethatresultsinanamechange,morethanoneISILidentifiermaybeassigned.SincethisInternationalStandardallowstheuseofexistingcodestobeincorporatedintotheISIL,itispossiblethatagivenorganizationmayhavemorethanoneISIL,however,theintentofthisstandardistominimizethenumberofcodes.Anylibraryorrelatedorganization,libraryadministrativeunitorsubordinateunit,actingautonomously,whichisengagingininternationallibraryorbooktradecommunication,maybeassignedanISIL.AnISILisnotintendedtobeusedtoclassifyorganizationsortheirservicesandholdings.
